本種は本州の他、韓国からも得られている。採集例が少なく生態は不明だが、クリやアカマツの花から得られている。シマアザミウマA. fasciatusと同様に花粉の他、他のアザミウマ等を摂食しているものと思われる。ヨーロッパに分布するA. gloriosus Bagnallは本種によく似るが、触角第3節は基部1/3が淡色であること、脚は淡色であることなどで識別できる。

This species is known from Honshu and Korea. It has been collected from the flowers of Castanea crenata and Pinus densiflora, despite its biology is uncertain. It probably feeds on the pollen and plant tissue as well as small arthropods such as other thrips like as A. fasciatus. A. gloriosus Bagnall from Europe is very similar to this species, but it can be distinguished form A. luteolus by the legs and basal third of the antennal segment III pale.
